Skaters in the STAR 1-5 and STAR 6-gold programs have the opportunity to take Skate Canada Assessments through a nationally standardized assessment system as well as compete at STAR 1 - 4 Series or Provincial Series for STAR 5 and up.

STAR 1 - 5 is designed to introduce skaters of all ages to the 5 disciplines in figure skating. Skaters will learn the basics for each discipline that will serve as a foundation for continued growth in all areas of figure skating. The disciplines are: Skills, Freeskate, Dance, Artistic and Synchronized skating.

Assessment: Skating skills, Freeskate, Dance, Artistic and Synchro Tests are assessed by the skater’s coach during the regular lesson.

STAR 6 - Gold is designed for skaters who completed the STAR 1-5 Program. This program builds on the skills acquired in STAR 1-5 and introduces skaters to more advanced figure skating elements.

Assessment: STAR 6 Skating skills maybe assessed by the skater’s coach. All other tests are evaluated by a Skate Canada evaluator assigned by Skate Ontario on a scheduled Assessment Day.
